Antoine Prion was a famous gunsmith from Liege, Belgium during the 18th century. Antoine's twenty year career as Belgian gunsmith lasted from 1730 to 1750. The percussion pistol featured in this listing is circa 1733 and was originally manufactured as a flintlock that was later modified to perform as a percussion pistol. The A. Prion pistol we feature for sale is in far better condition than the A. Prion flintlock pistol that is featured at the Deutsches Historisches Museum in Berlin, Germany. The smoothbore barrel of this pistol is 15 mm caliber and is in good condition with light visible pitting inside the bore. The octagon barrel features a sothered, brass front sight. The brass trigger guard is ornately decorated with engravings and the butt of the stock features an engraved Turkish man's upper torso wearing a turban upon his head. The rammrod is intact and the tip was created from animal horn. This fine, collectible antique was featured on page 987 of a collector's book written by Stockel. This Antoine Prion percussion pistol is of extremely high quality material to have lasted well over 250 years and has been very well taken care of. This authentic piece would be an exquisite addition to any historical firearms aficionado's private collection. SPECIFICATIONS: Overall Length: 15.5"; Barrel Length: 9.5"; Weight: 1.60 lbs; Caliber: 15 mm; Action: Percussion Bore: Slight pitting, though VERY GOOD condition for this weapon's age.
