AMD-65 (Automata Modositott Deszant[fegyver]) 1965 (designed in '65, put into service in '67); Automatic Modified Landing Assault weapon is a Hungarian manufactured variant of the AKM rifle for use by armored infantry and paratrooper units. This rifle is suited for outdoor use but can also be used within the confines of an armored vehicle because of the folding stock feature.

Wood grips for the AMD-65 are far less common than the black plastic grips for this rifle. In Hungarian service, AMD-65 rifles are generally used with 30 round magazines, but a special 20 round variant magazine (known as the officer's magazine) is available. This weapon is better suited for the 20 round magazine as the magazine does not interfere with the forward front handgrip and is easier to handle in tight quarters. The 30 round magazine does fit with slight interference. The receiver and barrel has been torch-cut.
